2G scam: Raja, Kani & 15 others charged
A special court in Delhi on Saturday (October 22) found prima facie evidence against all 17 accused for their roles in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. The court allowed CBI's fresh plea to invoke charge of criminal breach of trust against former Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi.
Section 409 was also pressed against former Private Secretary R K Chandolia, former Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura. Those charged under Section 409 hands a minimum punishment of 7 years and a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Kanimozhi was also charged under Section 120(b) for criminal conspiracy and other charges pertaining to Prevention Against Corruption Act were also pressed against her.
Telecom companies Reliance Telecom Ltd, Swan Telecom and Unitech Wireless were charged with criminal conspiracy and abetment in the case.
The Court also found prima facie evidence against 3 top Reliance ADAG officials Gautam Doshi, Surrender Pipara and Hari Nair for offenses of cheating and abatement.
All 17 accused, including DMK MP Kanimozhi, seek time to peruse the court order before framing of charges.
